Amy, a senior associate in our Austin office, has practiced with our firm since February 2016. As a former Special Education Coordinator at a large Texas school district for over seven years, Amy knows first-hand the demands placed on educators. This experience allows her to offer up creative and practical solutions that efficiently apply public resources—allowing staff to concentrate on the children and their needs. When litigation is unavoidable, Amy will deliver a spirited defense.
Amy is also available for staff development trainings that are designed to improve internal processes for compliance with federal and state regulations, especially in the areas of special education and Section 504.
While Amy assists on general school law matters, including student rights and responsibilities, her primary focus is on special education. She has boldly assisted in defending some of the most challenging issues facing the educators of Texas who have dedicated their lives to working with special education students.
Amy’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Texas A&M University and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the Texas Tech School of Law in Lubbock.
Amy is licensed to practice law in Texas state courts and the United States District Court for the Northern and Western Districts of Texas. She is a member of the Austin Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, and Texas Council of School Attorneys.
Amy’s paralegal is Andrea Stevens.
