Many lawsuits brought against governmental entities involve employment disputes. Legal counseling in labor and employment law goes to the core of our preventive law philosophy. We represent clients from preparing the job posting to hiring an employee; from grievances or documenting the employee through the final steps of termination; we can assist every step of the way.
Our attorneys engage in constant dialogue with employers regarding employment matters, twenty-four hours a day, counseling them in areas such as documentation, investigations, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act, personnel policies, and employee contracts. Our Model Employee Handbook and Contract Packages can be found in school district superintendent offices across the state.
Our attorneys have successfully defended numerous employment discrimination cases, several of which have involved Title VII claims of race or sex discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation; Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA); 42 U.S.C. Sec. 1983, including due process and liberty interest concerns; U.S. and Texas Constitutional claims, including equal protection and free speech; Texas Commission on Human Rights Act; Texas Whistleblower Act; and Texas Tort Claims Act defenses.
