Construction of school facilities is not complete until the district’s property is connected to the requisite utilities (water, wastewater, electric, and communications). Many times the attention required to be given to construction projects leaves precious little time to devote to consideration of the terms of the required easements needed to connect these facilities to the appropriate utilities. Darryl W. Pruett has created a short presentation that will identify some terms to be aware of, suggested revisions to a proposed easement from a utility, and developed a checklist for districts to use when considering utility easements over school district property.
